YAAP

Young person's Autism Advisory Project

What is YAAP?
This is an exciting opportunity to meet like-minded people, at the same time as have a say on the development of services for young people with Autistic Spectrum Condition.

We welcome all autistic people (and those on the pathway) aged 11-25 within YAAP, regardless of their communication needs, and create a safe environment to express needs and aspirations. From creating resources through to interviewing for staff, the young people have been able to have meaningful opportunities to engage and have a voice. This has built their self esteem and confidence, and also reduced isolation through the establishment of peer friendships.

Our Projects so far ...

During 2022-23 the young people in YAAP have been involved in some exciting projects. They have:
- participated in 6 interview panels as part of recruiting staff
- helped write the job descriptions for the Keyworker service
- helped rewrite the post-diagnostic support packs with the ASD/ADHD Team
- been involved in a SALT (Speech & Language) project
- co-written a complex needs definition
- developed information resources
- been involved in the logo redesign for En-Fold

... and eaten plenty of pizza!
